GIMP is the free GNU image manipulation software. It is one of the best free image editing software available for free. Personally, I feel it is the best among all the other image editing software. However everyone is entitled to their own views and perspective on this. This blog is for online GIMP tutorials for beginners and advanced users alike.
I have been working on GIMP for a few months and I have fallen in love with it. I used Photoshop CS5 previously but recently I moved to a Linux system just because I love open source. Well, you can guess the frustration I felt when I realized that I couldn't use PSD on my machine anymore and I did not want to use it via Wine Windows compatibility layer. So I started trying out Linux based image editing software and I found GIMP. And since then, I haven't looked back to Photoshop ever again.
I admit it was a little difficult familiarizing myself with GIMP, but that is the case with anything new, it needs time to get familiar with something new.
Well GIMP is open source, which means it is FREE and you can download it from the Download link I have provided in the Download section near the end of the right sidebar. Its a small size package compared to all the wonders it can do. I agree there are a few tools missing if compared to Photoshop but that does not matter as there is always a way to work around those. Like they say, "When there is a will, there is a way"!
I have started this blog to help people do their image editing via GIMP and to show you how awesome it is! I will be posting online GIMP tutorials and anything related to GIMP. I'll also tell you about new plugins or anything that will help you. If you need an online GIMP tutorial, don't hesitate to ask. I will put them up for you.
